Foothills Parkway Through the Year
Photographing as a Gatlinburg photographer has its perks. I capture amazing couples as they elope in the Smokies, work with outstanding vendors, and witness one of our country’s most beautiful National Parks through every season! The Foothills Parkway through the year is stunning and one of my all-time favorite backdrops for wedding photos in the mountains. And if you don’t believe me just take a look at the Foothills in every season!
Winter
Winter in the Foothills Parkway is way underrated. There is something so serene and dreamy about the mountains from December through February. February at Foothills Parkway is actually one of my favorites! It always surprises my couples how pretty the landscape is this time of year. I think it has to do with the stillness of the off-season, as well as how the light shines through the bare trees.
Spring
Spring is definitely one of the more popular times of year for weddings in the Foothills, from the pastel sunsets to the bright green new growth in the outlooks and trees. Even when we get “April showers,” the Parkway is beautiful and perfect for elopement pictures. And don’t worry, this Gatlinburg photographer always carries clear umbrellas! Which makes for really unique and elegant photos when coupled with the fog over the mountains.
Summer
Nothing beats summer in the mountains. Sunsets become more vibrant than Spring and you can really see the depth of the mountains because of the clear skies. I love how the colors of the sunset will reflect through the hills and mountains adding extra dimension to your photos. The Foothills Parkway is also filled with lush greenery and growth which allows for a more private and intimate feel to your elopement.
Fall
The most vibrant sunsets, colorful trees, and cool breezes. Fall in the Smokies really feels like a dream. With rolling mountains littered with reds and golds, you will be in awe of the majesty of the Foothills. Fall is another popular time for Gatlinburg elopements because it is not as busy as the summer months, as well as being more cool and just as adventurous!
