As a Gatlinburg photographer I have had a lot of practice capturing large families through the years. And with that comes a wealth of knowledge, tips and tricks. No matter the size of the extended family I am confident in capturing everyone with poses and prompts that display your relationships and this beautiful phase of life.

Get To Know You

You may not have this experience with many Gatlinburg photographers, but it is something that I find makes a huge difference. Especially in family sessions! Before your Gatlinburg family photos with me, I will send you a quick questionnaire to learn more about your family. In addition, if your family ends up shooting with one of my associates, like this shoot, then they will have all the details they need to capture your family.

For example, I learned through my questionnaire that this session was a gift for Alexandria’s parents. I also learned all about their family dynamic and who to expect to be at the session. Learning about personalities and expectations before hand made our session together run smoothly and comfortably for everyone!

Poses & Prompts

Going into your family photos its a great idea to have a “must have” shots list, and communicate that with your Gatlinburg photographers. This is something I always ask before we meet for our photos, but especially with larger families. With so many people I want to ensure that you get every shot you want with everyone in the session!

Alexandria shared that she wanted a few shots with everyone together, individual family photos and well as a shots with the grandchildren and grandparents. From there I was able to get a little creative to capture what makes their family unique and beautiful.

Location

Gatlinburg is filled with stunning locations for family photos. And I have been to almost every single one! A huge benefit of working with a Gatlinburg photographer is the expertise I have in the area. I am able to identify locations from a simple inspiration picture, and can take you there!
