When Is the Best Time to Elope in Gatlinburg?
This is one of the first things I help couples figure out. While Gatlinburg is stunning all year, spring and fall are the most popular seasons for elopements.
Spring (April–May): Wildflowers, fresh green trees, and comfortable temperatures.
Fall (late September–October): That famous Smoky Mountain foliage. Gold, orange, and red covering the ridgelines.
For the best experience, I always recommend weekday sunrise or sunset ceremonies. Not only is the light beautiful, but you'll also avoid the larger crowds that roll in during peak tourist times.
Do You Need a Marriage License in Tennessee?
Yes, you’ll need to apply for a marriage license in Tennessee, and it’s easier than you might think.
Both of you must visit a county clerk’s office in person (the Sevier County office is closest to Gatlinburg), bring valid ID, and pay a small fee. There’s no waiting period, so you can get married the same day if you want!
As your photographer, I’ll remind you of these steps, and many of my couples say it’s a relief having someone local guide them through this process—something a traditional Gatlinburg wedding planner might normally handle.
What’s Included in a Gatlinburg Elopement Photography Package?

Many couples find they don’t need a separate Gatlinburg wedding planner because their photographer (hi, that’s me!) is with them through every step, planning, coordinating, and documenting the experience.
Can You Invite Guests to a Gatlinburg Elopement?
Yes, absolutely! But you’ll want to keep it small.
The National Park typically limits groups to 10 people or fewer, and some scenic spots don’t allow large setups, chairs, or decorations.
That said, there are still plenty of options for intimate ceremonies with close family or friends, and I’ll help you find a location that fits your group size and vibe. If you want to include a mini celebration afterward, I can also recommend nearby cabins, picnic spots, or restaurants with private dining rooms.
How Do You Choose the Right Elopement Location?

How Soon Will We Get Our Photos?
After your elopement, I know you’ll be eager to relive the day. So I send over a sneak peek gallery within 3 days. Your full gallery will be delivered in about 4 weeks, complete with high-resolution files for printing, sharing, and framing.
