Gatlinburg Wedding Day Tips

How can you really make sure that you have the best Gatlinburg wedding day? After seeing hundreds of weddings as a Gatlinburg photographer, here are a few tips that I would share with my own friends for a successful wedding. Because you can’t control everything on your wedding day, but you can do these things to ensure you truly embrace your day!

Prioritize Self-Care

Self-care is probably not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a smooth wedding day, but in my experience as a Gatlinburg wedding photographer, it is the number one thing that goes overlooked. Let’s face it, this is a big day! And you can easily get carries away in the excitement. So in your wedding day timeline, set aside some time for you!

During your wedding event, plan in time for yourself to eat and stay hydrated. If you need to take five to breathe, do it. Too many brides get caught up in the whirlwind, and end up dealing with severe exhaustion, stress, or fatigue by the end of the day. Make sure that you are your own priority on your special day!

Savor Your Experiences

Second tip: take time to savor the moment. Again, this is a day that is only going to happen once in your life. How will you remember it? And what will you do to ensure you really embrace every moment?

Maybe you could have a quiet time after you get ready in your bridal suite to write in a journal. Or, after the ceremony, take some time with just your new spouse to talk and reflect on your experiences and commitment. These are the types of moments that you’ll never regret when you look back on your Gatlinburg wedding day.

Streamline and Plan Ahead

My last tip is to just streamline everything and plan ahead! For example, streamline your photography by pre-planning a list of the family and friends you want in your photos.  Share your list and other pose ideas with your photographer, and then you’ll have all the right combinations for your formal portraits—no extra stress.

So many wedding day catastrophes are avoided with the tiniest bit of extra planning and communication. It pays to prepare!
