If Uncles Brings A Camera To A Gatlinburg Wedding
It is a common discussion between Gatlinburg photographers, what do you do when a family member brings their camera? And sometimes, even my brides worry about their uncle or parent bringing a camera and getting in the way. I will say, I have zero problems with a family member bringing a camera! I love that they want to document your big day and celebrate. But, there are a few things that should be noted.
This Is My Job
My entire purpose at your wedding is to capture the moments that you will never get back again. You deserve to relive this day over and over again through my work. Literally, it is what you are paying me to do. With that said, I do need family to know that I do not want to hesitate! I need to be moving around and taking photos. So it would be great if Uncle Joe is made aware of this. If I step in front of him I am not being disrespectful, I’m doing my job. I’m moving where I need to move for the shot. Time is fleeting & I can’t hesitate and miss my chance!
Setting Expectations
Expectations are EVERYTHING. I don’t want to step on toes while doing my job, or make your family member with a camera feel upset. My ideal scenario is someone making Uncle Joe aware that I may jump in front of him if I need to. And for Uncle Joe to let me know he’s there to get what he can, but not to worry about him. This way I can move freely and not be concerned about being in his way. I don’t want to seem rude or disrespectful.
