As a Gatlinburg photographer I am usually up in the mountains capturing adventurous love stories. But I love being grounded in a small town, having an opportunity to photograph what comes after the grand gesture of an elopement or engagement session. Family photos are such a special and beautiful opportunity for me to photographs what really matters. To capture memories, relationships and candid moments. These in home family photos in Maryville TN turned out so beautifully, that not only do I need to highlight them in a blog. BUT! I also want to encourage you to consider in home family photos. When I refer to an in home session, this just means on your own property! Sometimes clients do have me come into their home to capture their family in their natural element. While other times we keep the shenanigans on the front porch and lawn! This family had the cutest front porch, with warm yellow doors and a cute beaded chandelier. It would have been a real shame if we didn’t utilize this area!
We also wandered a bit in their front lawn for different shots, and the kids even ventured off to get their outdoor toys to show off! I love family photos like these because the parents are so much more relaxed with their kids running off in their own space. Allowing me to capture more authentic and carefree joy.

Speaking of kids, let them show off! Children always want to show me their tricks, toys and silly faces. Let them! Family photos capture not just your faces, but your lifestyle, your story and your personalities. It is one of the biggest perks of having an in home session, so roll with it! We want all the laughs and candid moments we can get, because at the end of the day, that is what you want to remember most!
Pets In Family Photos
Another perk of having your family photos at home is getting to include your pets! Not all public locations are dog friendly. Even in national parks pets aren’t always allowed because of how the can disrupt the wildlife. So instead of researching the rules and where you can go to have family pictures with your furry friends, just bring the family photos to your home!
