Knoxville Botanical Gardens Family Photos
I love getting to photograph your family together in a way that captures your genuine love for each other. However, I know that posing can make taking photos awkward and unnatural. As a Smoky Mountain family photographer I do all that I can to make posing easy and natural! Here is how I poses these Knoxville Botanical Gardens family photos.
Let’s Break The Ice!
To start, I will have you stand together and smile at the camera. Super typical for family photos, and probably what you are expecting. Then we will start moving a bit to get more candid shots! Look around at each other. Think about your favorite family memories, look for a booger in each other’s nose, hug into the person next to you! These will make for genuine interactions and expressions. Then, I go in close for some sweet shots.
Afterwards, I will have you walk together looking around at each other as I give you prompts. “You’re on a family stroll through the park. Just like I’m not here!” “Smile at your favorite person.” “Look at the silliest person in the group.” These prompts will result in beautiful candid moments, just like in these Knoxville Botanical Gardens family photos!
Poses For Family Members
In addition to having family photos with every one together, you will probably want to break up into different groups. This is something that will add variety to your gallery. These are some examples from this Knoxville Botanical Gardens family photos session, but we can do custom groups to fit your family’s needs!
Parents & Children Poses
Some of my favorite poses for parent-daughter photos are to smile at the camera, then at each other. As well as offering prompts like “think about how you can’t believe they are grown!” and “tell how nice they look all dolled up!”. Then for this family I had the children kiss mom and dad on the cheeks, cuddle up cheek to cheek and look around laughing as they joked together.
Siblings Poses
By this point in a family session I get a pretty good idea of the dynamic of siblings. So I try to offer prompts that bring out their natural relationship. For example, the sun had set, but we still wanted to get some pictures! These sisters just love each other, so I had them walk holding hands, swinging their arms, hug into each other tight and think about how grateful they are to have a sister!
