Senior Photo Ideas In Gatlinburg

Senior photo ideas can seem tricky when you’re coming up on a graduation. There’s just so much to plan for this once in a lifetime event! As a Gatlinburg photographer I seriously love the creativity that can go into senior photos. So let me give you all the senior photo ideas and advice for high school and college seniors alike. 

Gatlinburg Location Ideas 

I’m obviously a photographer in Gatlinburg, so I may be biased. But Gatlinburg has so the best backdrops and most beautiful places for senior photos. We have so many scenic views, including the majestic mountains of the Smokies. As well as all the lush woods and meadows!

If you’re not feeling the nature vibe for your senior photos, remember that Gatlinburg is also home to a lot of interesting parkways, tunnels, and downtown. Each providing unique a beautiful backdrops for every senior. We can even capture a few portraits in front of the many water features! So, feel comfortable picking a photographer right here at home–no need to travel far to get great pics. 

Senior Photo Outfit Ideas

This is the first big photoshoot for a lot of seniors, so you might not know what to wear. I recommend bringing at least two outfits: one that is more casual and another that is more formal. Make sure any outfits you bring really speak to your personality and what you’re interested in. Remember, these photos are all about celebrating who you really are. 

Another overlooked tip is that you should bring a change of shoes. Pick shoes that you can walk or even hike in (sometimes we have to get adventurous for the perfect shot)! 

Ideas for Senior Props & Poses

A good prop will add opportunities for poses and will match the tone of the photoshoot. Some people like to bring something that shows their accomplishments at school, but even a hat or a flower can be great. For example, in my recent shoot with Shelby, we had a barstool and a blanket that worked really wonderfully! 

When I’m posing senior photos, I love a little spin and a hair toss. Anything to add movement and dimension to your photos. I will be sure to get a variety of poses in addition to the many backdrops. Giving you a beautiful gallery with a diversity of images.
