Smoky Mountain Engagement Photos

One of my favorite things as a Gatlinburg photographer is that the Smokies don’t know bad weather! I have captured engagements and elopements in sunshine, rain, clouds, wind, you name it! And every time the images turn out stunning. It is unreal how beautiful this part of the country is. Ben and Emily’s Smoky Mountain Engagement Photos are the perfect example of how what seems like a gloomy day is absolutely gorgeous in the mountains.

The Smoky Mountains

In and around the Smokies are dozens of locations for couples photos. From the rivers in Greenbrier, to the abundant fields of Cades Cove. No matter what backdrop you are looking for, we have it here! And since I have scouted out so many locations as a Gatlinburg photographer, I know the best spots for photos no matter the session type, no matter the weather! Check out my location guide for more information on a variety of scenic areas.

Foothills Engagement Photos

These engagement photos were taken in the Foothills Parkway, one of my favorite spots for mountain views. With 33 miles of parkway to work with there is an abundance of convenient and stunning locations right off the side of the road! I love having a parkway tour with my couples to capture their love story with the dozens of stunning backdrops. The only barrier is that this is a location that requires a license from the national park. But I have one of those, no problem!

Ben & Emily

Ben and Emily were so much fun to capture! I love their dynamic together and how well they balance each other out. The entire session was filled with giddy giggles and candid moments that were so true to their relationship as fiances and best friends. Although they had never had professional pictures taken, they were such naturals in front of the camera! I am actually capturing their Gatlinburg wedding in just a few short weeks, and I cannot wait to document the next capture of their love story!

Engagement Outfit Inspo

Something that I loved about Ben and Emily’s Smoky Mountain engagement photos were their outfits! They truly had a timeless wardrobe that complimented not only each other, but also the foggy backdrops of the Foothills. The cream and blue tones of their clothing looked especially wonderful in front of the lush bright greens of the Smokies woods. In addition, their outfits looked dressed up in a very casual and comfortable way. Absolutely perfect for a Smoky Mountain engagement session!

Engagement Poses

I mentioned before that Ben and Emily were absolute naturals in front of the camera, but if you aren’t, no worries! I like to start with more structured poses. Think of portrait styles images, with a couple standing together and smiling or leaning into one another. And as you get more comfortable in front of my lens we move to more candid poses. This could be holding hands and walking down the road, or even flirtatious neck kisses. And by the end of the session you will be comfortable enough to just be yourselves and let go!
