Smoky Mountain Proposal

Jack and Abby booked a session with me for some couple photos in East Tennessee. The location was right, the poses were so sweet and we were having a great time, but Jack was holding on to a secret! As we passed a garden, he pulled out a tiny piece of jewelry… little did Abby know, this was actually a surprise proposal.

UT Gardens Proposal Location

Here in Gatlinburg, we are so lucky to have the Smoky Mountains so close to home. The spot Jack and Abby decided on wasn’t inside of the National Park, and that is totally okay! It included grass walkways through rose bushes, flowering plants, and tall shade trees. Since it’s summer, everything was so green! The atmosphere felt intimate and private, creating a truly magical moment for this once in a life time experience.

Golden Hour in the Smoky Mountains

As a Smoky Mountain Photographer, I know that the best shots come at Golden Hour. Golden Hour is the hour or so before the sun sets when everything gets bathed in this beautiful gold light. When the light comes over the mountains and through the trees, the leaves seem to sparkle with warmth. Offering a romantic glow to your images.

Golden Hour makes a movie scene out of everything! And it was definitely a movie scene when Jack got on one knee!! Abby, of course, said…

Smoky Mountain Proposal Poses

YES! It was a beautiful moment for them! After capturing their authentic reactions (so cute!!), it was time for some posed portraits of them. For a young vibrant couple like this, I love really dynamic poses, like lifts and dips. A good lift feels like it encapsulates all the big feelings that come with a Smoky Mountain proposal!

When I photograph proposals, it’s so important to get the right ring shot. Soft hands are a great way to feature a brand new ring. To do this, pose hands gently on a partner’s face, chest, or shoulders. Jack and Abby were total naturals! And the detail shots of the engagement ring were absolutely perfect!

Being a part of a special Smoky Mountain proposal is one of the best parts of being a Gatlinburg photographer! There’s no better time or place to get engaged. If you’re ready to book engagements or couple photographs for any special occasion, drop me a line! Let’s go!
