Spring Family Photos

Spring in the Smoky Mountains is such a whimsical experience. From rolling mountains covered in bright green new growth to young wildlife wandering the woods. Everything about the scenic beauty of the Smokies is blooming this time of year, making spring family photos a no brainer!

Mountain Views

Like most, Gabi was drawn to the Smokies for her Spring family photos because of the mountain views. And with the family being from Wisconsin, I just knew I had to bring them to the best outlook in the National Park! Foothills Parkway has a number of outlooks that offer stunning backdrops of the mountains. Some feature winding roads, while others are a bit more secluded, surrounded by lush woods. We chose the more secluded option since we would have a 7-month-old crawling around!

Family Photos With Babies

When photographing babies during family photos, I focus on more candid moments than posed images. Although the thought of having a family photo with everyone looking at the camera and smiling is ideal. It rarely happens with babies. A lot of babies don’t smile at the camera because it is a new and curious object for them. In addition, I am a new face! So the best way to capture a happy smiling baby is to focus on having fun and playing while I capture candid moments and darling smiles!

If you are a parent and want to put the odds in your favor for capturing great Spring family photos with your baby, then I have a few things for you to bring! Gabi brought a few little stuffies and toys for her son to play with. This gives your baby something familiar and comforting in a new setting. In addition, she brought a blanket. Perfect for letting your baby safely roll around while I take a few couples’ photos, but it also makes a great prop during family photos!

Spring family photos are the perfect way to kick off the warm season and celebrate the new life blossoming through the mountains! As a Gatlinburg photographer, I appreciate this slow season and absolutely love photographing family photos during it! Reach out, and let’s book your family photos no matter the season!
