Gatlinburg Photographers Favorite Senior Picture Poses
Do you ever wonder about the “best” poses for senior portraits? We know that a variety of poses can be the “best,” depending on the style of the shoot, body type, etc.! But, secretly, I think all Gatlinburg photographers have their favorite poses, the ones that look great on everybody. So I’m confessing: here are my favorite senior picture poses!
Sitting, Elbow on Knees
First, a good pose is sitting with your knees together, and your elbows resting on your knees. This pose creates a lot of attractive angles for the body. Then, we can add some personality by bringing up one hand to cup your face, or by letting your hands rest loosely over your knees.
Really, any way we adapt this pose, you’re going to look like a model.
Hair Toss
Another one of the senior picture poses that I like is a hair toss. This one is so fun! It looks good with any texture of hair. It can look bubbly and innocent if you smile when you toss it, or more mature if you don’t. I have seen many adaptations of this pose. Flipping hair over the shoulder, a natural hair toss as you twirl, throwing your hair back as you laugh, the list goes on! Their is a lot you can do to personalize this pose and make it your own!
Look Back Over Shoulder
I think all Gatlinburg photographers like this one: looking back over your shoulder. Again, this pose flatters people! It helps define the chin and puts all the focus on your face. Plus, this one works great for seniors. It’s like you’re running toward your future and bringing us along with you!
Arms Over Head
Another Vogue-style photo is putting your arms over your head. To do this, put your hands together in front of you, and then bring them both together on the crown of your head, making 7s with your elbows. (For guys, having just one arm up might be better.) This pose looks so confident, it’s sure to become your profile picture.
One Arm Straight, One Arm Crossbody
And the final senior picture pose I’m sharing is having one arm down at your side, and then bringing the other arm across your body to loosely hold it. This one, again, looks casual and classy for everybody. It’s a pose that is really easy to do and it makes you look great!
So that’s it, guys! Those are some of the best senior picture poses from a Gatlinburg photographer! If you need some more inspo on senior pictures, check this out! And if you’re still looking for a photographer who can capture you looking your best, reach out and book a session here.
