Fall Family Photos Must Have Shots

As a photographer in Gatlinburg TN, I get to capture a lot of fall family photos! And I want your session with me to be worth your while. That is why I send out a questionnaire before hand to get to know you, and the photographs you want to walk away with after your session. You deserve family photos that are uniquely you and include all the must have photos!

Parents

As a mom of two young boys I understand how hectic life can get with kids! And the chaos can definitely carry over to your family pictures. This is why I always take the time to pull parents aside to capture your love, with just the two of you. Although life can get crazy, you still deserve couples photos to document your relationship in this season of life.

Rosemary has two older sons, so it was especially easy to get a few shots of just her and Jim! I wanted to make these photos feel as natural as possible, since she had mentioned before her session that she isn’t a huge fan of taking pictures. So instead of poses, I prompted Rosemary and Jim to hug each other and share what they loved about each other. As a result, they got some darling candid couples photos in addition to their fall family photos.

Groups

In addition to pulling aside just mom and dad, I will also pull together groups of people within the family. Typically this looks like all the sisters together, brothers together, siblings together, grandchildren together, couples, parents with individual children, and so forth! Part of creating a gallery that fits your fall family photos needs, is creating these unique groupings.

Before our session Rosemary let me know a few shots that she really wanted for her fall family photos. I made a note of these and came ready for our session. This is another great example of how the questionnaire before your family photos can give direction so that we can make the most of our time together!

Christmas Card Pictures

So many families choose to use their fall family photos for their Christmas and other holiday cards. If you are planning on this, then feel free to bring a few holiday props. Rosemary’s family brought a Christmas sign, but you could also bring Santa hats or other props for a few holiday card pictures.

Bonus: Headshots

If you have a business website, or just need to update your LinkedIn profile with headshots, then be sure to mention this before our family session together! Not all Gatlinburg photographers will take these photos as part of your fall family photos. But, I do not mind capturing a few quick headshots of everyone for professional profiles.

Rosemary was drawn to my work because of the natural exchanges between loved ones that I was able to capture. And I am happy to say that we were able to capture just that! I loved getting to photograph this playful family for their fall family photos!
