Winter Family Photos In Gatlinburg
Family photos are a big deal, especially during the holidays. It's a great way to remember how your family has grown over the years and what makes each member special. And as a Gatlinburg photographer I feel honored that I get to a be part of capturing your memories! So when Vicki reached out to have her sweet family photographed I was so excited to get started with her winter family photos in Gatlinburg.
Winter Family Photo Outfits
One of my favorite parts of Vicki’s family gallery has to be how well her outfits contrasted with the dark winter sky. It can be a bit tricky finding a color palette that compliments everyone in your family. So when you do, lean into the color if that’s your style!
In addition, be sure to choose outfits that are comfortable for everyone. Especially if you have young children and toddlers. By choosing outfits that are easy to move around in you will be able to chase your little ones and play together! This is one of the best ways to get candid smiles and lots of giggly winter family photos.

Tips For Toddlers During Winter Family Photos
I get to work with a lot of different families, and many of them have little children who may need a bit of help when it comes to family photos. It's important to keep in mind that toddlers are not necessarily model material and can have their ups and downs. But, there are some things you can do to make sure the experience goes smoothly for everyone involved!
I always recommend abiding by their timeline. If they are ready to take pictures as soon as I show up, great! However, if they need a few minutes to warm up to the idea, that is okay too! We can focus on mom and dad getting some portraits together first. This can help your little one see how much fun it is, which will lead to them becoming more comfortable in front of the camera!
Vicki’s two year old daughter is a wild and free spirit with lots of energy! So I made sure to get some candid shots of her playing with her parents in the mountains. These photos served as a way for the toddler to run off some energy. As well as a way for me to capture the beauty of her relationship with her mom and dad.
