Gatlinburg Fall Family Photos

There is no better time to have family photos than Fall. And there is no better place than Gatlinburg! The rolling hills filled with vibrant hues of orange and red, the crisp autumn air, and of course the views that go on for miles. Gatlinburg fall family photos are the best type of photos! Here are some of my favorite locations and poses as a Gatlinburg family photographer.

Outlooks

The Smoky Mountains are filled with stunning outlooks that give you those endless views. Many of these locations have a secluded patch of grass that offer a bit of privacy as well as a safe place to pose and play as a family. In the fall these outlooks feature miles of autumn colors that contrast beautifully with both blue and grey skies.

There are so many ways to pose in front of such a gorgeous backdrop. For smaller families I love laying out a neutral blanket and having everyone cuddle up together. This is especially effective for families with small children! For both small and large families I will have you hold hands and walk towards the camera, giving your images more motion and depth.

Woods

Why do so many of my clients love Gatlinburg fall family photos? For the vibrant forrest colors, of course! And to capture those colors with your family, the best thing to do is to go into the woods. Surrounding are lush trees, falling leaves and all the whimsical charm that the Smoky Mountains have to offer!

To save of time and energy I will pose your family right outside of the woods, or slightly inside where I know of a few spots that are easy to get to. This is a great spot to capture individual portraits for children. As well as couples photography for the parents! Playing with leaves, dancing under the trees and of course some classic smiling photos all look beautiful against the trees.

Winding Roads

As a Gatlinburg family photographer I adore the winding road in the Smokies! How could you not? They add so much interest and depth to fall family photos without drawing the focus of the picture away from your family. In addition, there are so many ways to pose with these lovely roads!

A must-have shot is your family holding hands and walking down the middle of the road for a truly care-free family photo. I always choose a part of the road with a low speed limit, little to no traffic, and without any blind spots. However, in some of the more windy areas of the roads we will stick to the side of the road to stay safe!

Capturing your Gatlinburg fall family photos is such a treat! Let’s chat about all the locations you are most looking forward to!
